Alaska Boroughs and Census Areas

Alaska has 19 organized boroughs and 11 census areas. Unlike most states, none of them issue birth certificates on their own. All Alaska birth records are kept by the state at the Health Analytics and Vital Records Section in Juneau, with a walk-in office in Anchorage. Each borough or census area page below has local info, links to the borough or census area site, and steps for getting Alaska birth records as a resident of that region.
